Podiatry
The Division of Podiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center is staffed with podiatrists who provide state-of-the-art care and treatment for disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. These physicians provide palliative, acute, and chronic care and are often the first to recognize arthritis, diabetes, or heart disease. Podiatric physicians:
- Perform surgery
- Perform complete medical histories and physical examinations
- Prescribe medications
- Set fractures and treat sports-related injuries
- Prescribe and fit orthotics, insoles, and custom-made shoes
- Order and perform physical therapy
- Take and interpret X-rays and other imaging studies
