Rehabilitation Program Overview

Since 1985, Mount Sinai Medical Center’s comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs have helped patients regain function and enjoy their best quality of life. In fact, Mount Sinai’s rehabilitation programs consistently earn overall satisfaction ratings of more than 97% .1 As part of our commitment to excellence, we provide each patient with a uniquely designed rehab plan that meets their specific needs.

We offer patients a comprehensive array of rehabilitation services, including highly specialized programs. All patients benefit from access to an interdisciplinary team that brings unique expertise — including occupational, physical, speech, and recreational therapy. As a result of our intensive, patient-centric approach, our patients are 67.5% more likely to be at or above the expected ability to care for themselves at discharge, and our average length of stay for inpatient rehab therapy is shorter than the regional average1. Patients at Mount Sinai go home sooner and return to their everyday life faster.

In addition to highly satisfied patients, Newsweek magazine recognized Mount Sinai’s rehabilitation program for its excellence, naming it among “America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers” in the U.S., based on peer surveys of quality of care, quality of service, quality of follow-up care, and accommodations and amenities, compared to other facilities in the state of Florida2. Our program regularly ranks above other rehabilitation facilities for a variety of measures, including the following:

  • The percentage of patients at or above the expected ability to care for themselves at discharge
  • The rate of a successful return to home and community
  • Overall satisfaction1,[3]

We’re also proud of our full accreditation by The Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International).

A Measured Approach

Whether patients receive treatment at Mount Sinai’s inpatient or outpatient programs, our rehabilitation team will collaborate with each other to create fully customizable treatment plans.

Our patient-centered approach considers the patient’s medical history, lifestyle, age, and strength level to develop a plan that meets their unique needs. As patients progress through their rehabilitation journey, our Mount Sinai team carefully monitors their progress and makes any necessary changes to ensure their success.

We understand that recovering from an illness or injury is more than just a physical process, so we offer many opportunities for our patients to heal socially and emotionally as well, including conducting support groups and providing re-entry assistance.
