Dr. Hernando Garcia is a board-certified pulmonary and critical care physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is also board-certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Garcia earned medical degrees in both medicine and surgery and internal medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana School of Medicine in Colombia. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Miami School of Medicine, and an internal medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami.

Dr. Garcia has held numerous academic leadership and teaching roles, including Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine and as the Director of Medical Intensive Care at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Garcia also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso before returning to South Florida.

Dr. Garcia has been published in numerous juried and referred journal articles and participated in funded research on pulmonary arterial hypertension. He has been an invited speaker on topics including asthma and pulmonary hypertension. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, and the Florida Thoracic Society.

Dr. Garcia is fluent in both English and Spanish.
