Sleep plays a vital role in promoting a person’s health and well being. Getting the sleep that you need is likely to enhance your overall quality of life. Yet there can be many potential barriers that can disrupt and disturb your sleep. Overcoming these challenges can help you enjoy the daily benefits of feeling alert and well rested.

Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Sleep Disorders Center has been providing specialized sleep testing to the community since 1977. The Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and has board certified medical and technical staff. The physicians at the Center specialize in helping people who are unable to sleep well and who struggle to stay awake during the day. These physicians detect and treat both common and rare sleep disorders.

The Center offers include diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnography in the investigation of the following possible disorders:

  • Obstructive, central and mixed sleep apnea
  • Snoring
  • Cheyne-Stokes Respiration
  • Obesity Hypoventilation Syndrome
  • Narcolepsy
  • Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep
  • Parasomnias (e.g. sleep walking and REM behavior disorder)
  • Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NCPAP and BiPAP)

The Sleep Disorders Laboratory utilizes 21st century technology to evaluate sleep to confirm the presence of disease or abnormality, identify the nature of the sleep disturbance, determine the extent of the abnormality and help define the course of therapy. These evaluations are performed at our sleep laboratory located in Miami Beach, or at home through our Home Sleep Testing Program.
