Maternity & Prenatal Classes
The birth of a child is one of life’s most precious moments, and Mount Sinai Medical Center has helped thousands of South Florida families ensure their special day is healthy for mother and baby with state-of-the-art obstetric care that is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of childbirth experts. In addition to following the highest safety standards, the care team at Mount Sinai’s labor and delivery unit prioritizes mother and baby’s comfort at every step of a family’s maternity journey.
This commitment to excellence has earned Mount Sinai numerous awards and accolades, including “Best Hospital to Give Birth in Miami-Dade County,” awarded by the readers of South Florida Parenting magazine two years in a row. In addition, Mount Sinai has one of the lowest C-section rates in the region.
Labor and Delivery
Mount Sinai Medical Center is proud to have the lowest primary caesarian section rate in South Florida.
Mount Sinai Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in the region to provide families with a combined labor and delivery experience, where mothers who deliver vaginally can go through the entire childbirth experience in one room. That tradition continues today. In addition, expectant parents at Mount Sinai Medical Center can choose to create a personalized childbirth experience, including access to hypnobirthing for a delivery without the use of pain medication.
For mothers who want to reduce pain during childbirth, Mount Sinai Medical Center’s anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists offer every pain reduction modality available, and our team is among the only in South Florida to utilize nitrous oxide during labor and delivery. Nitrous oxide has been shown to alleviate pain effectively during childbirth with minimal side effects.
