Dr. Pooja Sharma is a board-certified, non-operative sports medicine physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Sharma received her B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University. She then went on to earn her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, where she currently serves as an alumni ambassador.

Dr. Sharma completed her family medicine residency training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, where she served as the resident liaison for the Emory Family Medicine Mentoring Program. Following her residency, she completed her primary care sports medicine fellowship at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Atlanta, GA, in which she specialized in musculoskeletal medicine, athlete care, ultrasound guided injections, and regenerative medicine.

    Dr. Pooja Sharma is a board-certified, non-operative sports medicine physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

    Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Sharma received her B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University. She then went on to earn her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, where she currently serves as an alumni ambassador.

    While training in Atlanta, Dr. Sharma served as assistant team physician for Georgia State Athletics, Georgia Gwinnett College, Cambridge High School, and Berkmar High School. She also covered many other sporting events, including the Corky Kell Classic and WNBA Atlanta Dream.

    Regarding publications, Dr. Sharma has written articles for ABC News on topics, such as the importance of colorectal cancer screenings in the United States due to the increase in cancer-related deaths, and the link between COVID-19 infections and brain damage.

    Dr. Sharma has lectured on various medical topics, including the differential diagnoses/treatment of exercise-induced asthma, osteochondral defects, Maisonneuve fractures, Osgood Schlatter, and knee pain in adults. Additionally, her clinical interests include basketball medicine and overuse injury and prevention.

    Dr. Sharma is board-certified in Family Medicine. She also received her Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM). Dr. Sharma is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

    She is fluent in English and Hindi.
