Dr. Cornel Lupu has been practicing internal medicine and geriatrics on Miami Beach since 1977. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed an internship and residency at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY. After obtaining licenses to practice in New York and Florida, Dr. Lupu came to Florida in search of better weather.
Dr. Lupu is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. He is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Lupu has been selected by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America, Southeast Region, continuously since 1996 and was also elected president of the medical staff at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2011.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Lupu is committed to elevating the practice of medicine at both the local and national levels. He has been appointed to the position of medical advisor to pension boards in several municipalities, including the City of Miami Beach and the City of Miami. Dr. Lupu has also been active in the Florida chapter of the American College of Physicians, where he served as chairman of the Membership Committee. As a member of the college’s Legislative Committee, he also traveled to Tallahassee and Washington to lobby on behalf of the organization and the medical profession.
Dr. Lupu enjoys sharing his knowledge with students, and has been teaching clinical skills to medical students fro m the University of Miami School of Medicine for the past 20 years. He also participates in Mount Sinai Medical Center’s internal medicine residency program, where he provides clinical instruction to residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and recently started teaching students fro m Ross University.
Dr. Lupu is fluent in English, French, Romanian and Spanish.
