While there, he was named Intern of the Month, Most Professional Intern of the Year, and Senior Resident of the Month, and also served as the Chief Medical Resident for internal medicine and the Chief Gastroenterology Fellow.

Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Gonzalez served as the Associate Site Director of the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. He also served as the Associate Chief of Gastroenterology and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York.

Dr. Gonzalez is an active researcher involved in studies related to ulcerative colitis, and has presented and been published on the topic of colorectal cancer screening.

Dr. Gonzalez is a member of various professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
