Dr. Steven DeBeer is a graduate of Furman University, where he was recruited and played college football, among his many other accomplishments. He attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for medical school. He subsequently completed his training in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he was awarded the honors of Chief Resident and Intern of the Year. He then completed a rigorous three year cardiothoracic fellowship program at Emory University School of Medicine, where he trained with the nation’s leading cardiothoracic surgeons at Emory Healthcare.

Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. DeBeer spent three years in practice at Florida Heart and Vascular Care of Broward. He is board-certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery and is proficient in all aspects of cardiac surgery. He has expertise and additional training in transcatheter and endovascular surgery, as well in complex aortic aneurysm reconstructions. He uses minimally invasive approaches whenever safe and suitable for patients’ pathology. He has also conducted research published in scientific journals in the areas of treatment for heart abnormalities and minimally invasive cardiothoracic procedures. He has further utilized his medical expertise to author several professional book chapters and presentations on emerging technology for cardiovascular therapies.
