(Sunny Isles Beach – April 6, 2015) – Mount Sinai Medical Center is opening its fifth satellite physician office to be located in Sunny Isles Beach. Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care Sunny Isles Beach will occupy the sixth floor of One Netanya, located at 323 Sunny Isles Boulevard, and will offer primary care services as well as cardiology, urology and endocrinology. The office is set to open open on April 6.
“While we have had a presence in Aventura for many years, this new satellite center will give residents of Sunny Isles Beach and the surrounding community easier access to our physicians and the specialized care and services we provide,” said Mount Sinai President and CEO, Steve Sonenreich.
Dr. Yuliya Korinenko, will be among the physicians in the new center when it opens. Dr. Korinenko, who specializes in internal medicine, is fluent in Russian, as well as English. Joining Dr. Korinenko are several well-respected Mount Sinai physicians. Dr. Gervasio Lamas, chief of the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai, will provide cardiology services along with Dr. Esteban Escolar and Dr. Bernard Ashby. Dr. Sylvia Diaz will provide endocrinology services. Dr. Akshay Bhandari, co-chief of the Columbia University Division of Urology at Mount Sinai, will round out the team. Drs. Lamas, Escolar and Diaz are fluent in Spanish, as well as English.
Instrumental in establishing Mount Sinai’s presence in Sunny Isles is the city’s former Mayor, Norman S. Edelcup.
“Sunny Isles Beach has an A-rated school, magnificent parks, and now will have high quality health care worthy of its world-class status,” said Edelcup.
It was Edelcup’s vision to make high quality medical care available in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach. And now, with the establishment of Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care Sunny Isles Beach, residents of the city and the surrounding community will have easier access to the services they need to maintain their overall health and well-being.
Prior to the development of Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care Sunny Isles Beach, the medical center has had a consistent presence for many years in Sunny Isles Beach. With a dedicated medical lecture series that takes place in the city’s government center to complimentary health screenings, Mount Sinai has been at the forefront of establishing collaborative, wellness-driven programs for the Sunny Isles Beach community. In addition, the city has and will continue to provide complimentary round-trip transportation services via its shuttle buses to the medical center’s main campus in Miami Beach, as well as to the new satellite office.
Mount Sinai Sunny Isles Beach will be the hospital’s fifth satellite location in Miami-Dade County. Other locations include Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care offices in Hialeah, Key Biscayne and Coral Gables, as well as the Mount Sinai Aventura campus, which consists of an emergency room, physician offices, and a cancer and diagnostic center.
