He completed his residency training at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, where he earned the Best Research Award and the Dr. C.J. Carpenter Award for Best Graduating Resident. Following his residency, he worked on NIH-funded cardiovascular outcomes research and completed his clinical cardiology fellowship training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City/Saint Luke’s Mid-America Heart Institute, where he served as Chief Cardiovascular Disease Fellow. Dr. Hejjaji was also awarded first place at Saint Luke’s Research Day for his clinical research.

    Dr. Hejjaji has contributed to research, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations on topics such as innovative methods of controlling cardiovascular disease risk factors, invasive/non-invasive treatment in symptomatic peripheral artery disease, management of heart failure, bariatric surgery among patients with obesity and diabetes, and transcatheter valve therapies. His research areas focus on quality improvement and implementation science, which aim to advance health systems and deliver high-quality care. Additionally, he practices a holistic form of medicine and uses shared decision-making techniques to provide the best possible care for patients and their families.

    Dr. Hejjaji is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a member of the American Heart Association, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the American College of Cardiology.

    Dr. Hejjaji is fluent in English, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
