Mission Driven, Driven to Teach

Mount Sinai Medical Center opened its doors at the close of World War II with the mission to provide all members of the Miami Beach community with access to care, regardless of race, creed, nationality, or the ability to pay. Likewise, the founders of Mount Sinai set out to create a hospital where doctors, nurses, and staff could be free from discrimination. And today, more than three-quarters of a century later, Mount Sinai delivers lifesaving care to one of the most diverse patient populations in the nation, offering physicians unique clinical and research opportunities. And Mount Sinai boasts a global community of health care professionals with experience and training from among the most prestigious medical institutions in the U.S. and the world.

Providers similarly enjoy Mount Sinai’s diverse patient population and multinational faculty. The health system offers training in 20 specialties as well as an exclusive academic affiliation with Columbia University in cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, and urology. Through this affiliation, our physicians collaborate with their Columbia University colleagues on complex cases, share results from novel research, and participate in clinical trials, including early phase trials.

A Tradition of Excellence

Mount Sinai offers its providers an environment of unmatched clinical excellence. Here, you’ll work alongside physicians, nurses, and allied health providers recruited from nationally renowned programs across multiple specialties. And you will have the opportunity to practice in a truly collaborative environment that embraces a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Our outstanding faculty and staff, along with a never-ending dedication to delivering quality care, have led Mount Sinai to become one of the most awarded hospitals in the state and nation, including:

  • The only hospital in Miami-Dade named one of Healthgrades top 5% of U.S. hospitals for four years running: 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020
  • The only hospital in South Florida — and only one of 250 in the world — named to Newsweek magazine’s list of World’s Best Smart Hospitals for 2021
  • Ranked among the top 5% of hospitals in Florida on S. News & World Report’s Best Regional Hospitals in the State of Florida list for 2021
  • The only Ivy League-affiliated cardiology, urology, orthopedics, and cancer programs in South Florida, backed by Columbia University
