Esteban Escolar, M.D., F.A.C.C., is a full-time cardiologist and Associate Professor at the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Escolar joined Mount Sinai Medical Center in July 2009 as the Director of the Coronary Care Unit. In 2010, he became the Director of the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Program and the Chest Pain Unit. In 2013, he was named Director of Cardiology Clinical Services.

A native of San Juan, Argentina, Dr. Escolar graduated form the University of Buenos Aires, Medical School, and also completed full training in cardiology. He then completed his interventional cardiology training at the Mitre Clinic in Argentina. In 2003, Dr. Escolar moved to Washington, D.C. for a research fellowship in intravascular ultrasound. He also completed an internal medicine residency at Georgetown University MedStar Washington Hospital Center, in addition to a fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

Dr. Escolar has published book chapters, presented abstracts in national and international meetings, is published in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured at national and international meetings. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, Dr. Escolar was a reviewer for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology from 2004 to 2011.

Dr. Escolar’s areas of clinical interest are critical care, cardiology, non-invasive diagnostic imaging, pulmonary hypertension and congestive heart failure from coronary artery disease or valvular heart disease.

Dr. Escolar is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
