Dr. Ignacio A. Zabaleta was born in Havana, Cuba and has been a resident of South Florida for 25 years. He received his medical degree from Universidad Central del Este in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and completed his residency at Jewish Hospital and Medical Center of Brooklyn, New York, where he was chief resident. Dr. Zabaleta also completed a fellowship in neonatology at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Dr. Zabaleta has been an attending neonatologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center from 1989 to present. Previously, he served as the director of Newborn Special Care Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital and as an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Zabaleta has also been a guest lecturer and co-authored many publications.

Dr. Zabaleta has been married to Vanessa for 31 years; they are the proud parents of two children. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, mountain biking, skiing and spending time with his family.
