He completed his orthopedic surgery residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY. After residency, he completed his adult total joint reconstruction fellowship at the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Alexandria, VA, where he trained with nationally and internationally recognized experts in anterior hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and outpatient joint replacement.

He has numerous peer-reviewed publications, such as articles in prominent scientific orthopedic journals, surgical technique videos, and book chapters in orthopedic textbooks. Dr. Barbera is an active member of several professional orthopedic organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
