    Biography

    Dr. Karim G. Sabeh is the Director of Adult Reconstruction and Arthroplasty and an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Columbia University Division of Orthopedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement.

    He received his Bachelor of Science degree in physiology and chemistry from California State University, Long Beach, and his Doctorate of Medicine from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, graduating with honors. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he provided team coverage for the University of Miami Hurricanes and the athletics department. Dr. Sabeh concluded his training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where he completed his hip and knee reconstruction and joint replacement fellowship.

    Before joining Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Sabeh built a successful practice in the greater Boston area at Newton-Wellesley Orthopaedics, affiliated with both Harvard and Tufts Medical Schools. He served as a Clinical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and as Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he taught orthopedic surgery fellows, residents, and medical students. Dr. Sabeh served as the medical director, board member, and co-founder of a state-of-the-art orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in the greater Boston area. He developed a safe and effective clinical pathway for same-day discharge after minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement surgery, with excellent surgical outcomes and positive patient feedback and experience.

    Dr. Sabeh is active in several professional orthopedic organizations, as a leadership member of the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and as an editorial board member and reviewer of the Journal of Arthroplasty. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

    Dr. Sabeh has an extensive research portfolio and has presented his research nationally and internationally. He is a recipient of several awards for excellence in clinical orthopedic research. He has written book chapters in orthopedic textbooks and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prominent medical and orthopedic journals.

    Dr. Sabeh applies the latest advances in minimally invasive surgical techniques, resulting in faster recovery, early hospital discharge, and superior surgical outcomes. He helps patients alleviate pain and improve mobility and function, leading to a better quality of life and a healthier, more active lifestyle.
