Following his residency, Dr. Hagau settled in Boston, MA, where he completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship training at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center and advanced cardiac imaging fellowship training (emphasis on echocardiography) at West Roxbury VA Medical Center.

    Before joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Hagau served as an attending non-invasive cardiologist and Director of Nuclear Cardiology at the Mason City Clinic’s MercyOne North Iowa Heart and Vascular Institute. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at Des Moines University.

    Dr. Hagau has contributed to teaching, research, publications, and presentations on several topics, including Bartonella infection, endocarditis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and bradycardia, pulmonary artery fistulas, and catheter-related bloodstream infections. Dr. Hagau was also featured regularly on the local KIMT TV station as part of their medical spotlight segment.

    In addition to general cardiology, Dr. Hagau possesses specific expertise in cardiovascular imaging, echocardiography, and nuclear stress testing. Dr. Hagau is committed to offering personalized patient care that focuses on preventing disabilities stemming from chronic diseases to promote a longer and healthier way of living.

    Dr. Hagau is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and received board certification in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.

    Dr. Hagau is fluent in English and Romanian.
