Now and for Generations to Come

About the Foundation

Your Gift Makes a Lasting Impact on our Community

What started out as a vision to serve and accept all people regardless of race, creed, nationality, or ability to pay, still remains at the core of Mount Sinai’s mission more than 70 years later. Today, our ability to continue to serve our community by providing access to high-quality care stands on a foundation of strong philanthropic support. As we embark on this new era of patient care enhanced with the finest in technologies and facilities, charitable giving remains vital to our success. We encourage you to learn more about the impact our philanthropic family continues to make on our community by exploring the materials below.

A Legacy of Community Support

Mount Sinai Medical Center was founded in 1949 by a group of philanthropists who sought to establish a place where physicians could freely practice medicine and all persons regardless of “race, creed, or color” could receive high quality medical care. More than seven decades later, Mount Sinai remains a not-for-profit hospital providing vital health care services to everyone in our community. To meet the public’s expectation for quality medicine, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, the Mount Sinai Medical Center Foundation preserves the hospital’s rich tradition of philanthropy and community support.
