Emergency Care Program Overview
Convenient Access to Emergency Care, 24/7
Mount Sinai Medical Center offers patients access three emergency centers across Miami-Dade County, including the only emergency department in Miami Beach. Unlike most hospitals in Miami-Dade, all of Mount Sinai’s emergency physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine by either the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). That means our physicians undergo rigorous specialty training to respond to, diagnose, and treat medical and surgical emergencies using evidence-based care.
Dedicated to meeting the emergent medical needs of South Florida’s residents and its many visitors, Mount Sinai provides compassionate, high-quality care with state-of-the-art equipment and the most advanced technology available, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are committed to offering an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to care and host a full suite of on-call specialists, including doctors from the Mount Sinai Heart Institute, Florida’s premier cardiovascular program and the only Ivy League-affiliated cardiovascular program in South Florida.
Our stroke center, designated as a “Comprehensive Stroke Center,” is one of the first hospitals in Miami-Dade County to earn the coveted designation and one of less than 20 in Florida. As a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Mount Sinai offers patients the most current interventions for stroke as well as system wide initiatives for stroke prevention, rehabilitation, education, community awareness, and research.
As one of Florida’s original teaching hospitals, Mount Sinai trains future emergency medicine physicians through our fully accredited emergency medicine training program.
About Our Emergency Centers
Our flagship emergency center, Mount Sinai’s Hildebrandt Emergency Center, sees more than 75,000 patient visits each year in a modern facility, remodeled in 2019. The emergency center houses a 128-slice CT scanner, 50 private treatment rooms, and designated behavioral health rooms for psychiatric care. As the only emergency center in Miami Beach, Mount Sinai also houses the City of Miami Beach’s emergency command center, to be activated in times of man-made and natural disasters.
Mount Sinai’s freestanding Emergency Center in Hialeah offers 24-hour access to convenient, high-quality care to residents and visitors in the greater Hialeah and Miami Lakes areas. The three-story facility houses the newest diagnostic and treatment technologies, including seven ultrasound machines, an in-house CT scanner, 24 private single-occupant exam rooms, and four additional behavioral health rooms.
Mount Sinai’s freestanding Emergency Center in Aventura, the first freestanding ER in the region, accepts patients of all ages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for those requiring emergency medical care. Our emergency center houses 16 exam/treatment bays and a full suite of imaging and laboratory services. Like our other emergency centers, board-certified emergency physicians and emergency department nurses staff our Aventura location. Patients also have access to our full roster of on-call specialists.
Pediatric Emergencies
At Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach, as well as at our freestanding emergency centers in Aventura and Hialeah, our board-certified emergency medicine physicians can handle nearly any medical emergency — for adults and children. Whether your child faces a serious injury, allergic reaction, high fever, excessive vomiting, or more, our team can help. And if your child requires admission to the hospital, we partner with various pediatric hospitals in the region, including Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and Holtz Children’s Hospital, where children can receive inpatient care in a pediatric setting.
