Program Overview
Mount Sinai Medical Center specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of vascular-related conditions. We use the latest technology to provide innovative, high-quality care to patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases. Our surgeons are at the forefront of surgical advances and minimally invasive methods to improve vascular care, and they have pioneered innovative treatment techniques that have attracted patients from all over the world.
Our vascular and endovascular surgeons extend the scope of specialized care to encompass all aspects of vascular disease. They collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts in cardiac surgery, interventional radiology, and wound care.
Program Highlights
- Our patients have access to a dedicated limb salvage program that is committed to lowering the rates of major amputation and drastically improving the care for peripheral artery disease (PAD) in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI). The program is led by a team of physicians who specialize in vascular surgery, interventional radiology, and wound care.
- We offer an integrated approach to complex venous reconstruction through combined expertise of vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists to advance the treatment of many vascular diseases and conditions.
- We offer a multidisciplinary, complex aortic program with concentration in vascular surgery and cardiac surgery, which allows our team to treat complex aortic disease. This integrated approach allows our teams to offer both open and/or endovascular approaches for the repair based on patient need.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Technique
- In 2018, Mount Sinai Medical Center performed South Florida’s first transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) stenting, which is an innovative, minimally invasive technique designed to reduce the risk of a stroke during the surgical insertion of a stent. Today, we have performed the most TCAR cases in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
- Our surgical team is highly skilled in open aortic surgery and endovascular aortic repair for the management of complex aortic disease. In addition, the team specializes in custom-made grafts that are made to precisely match the individual anatomy of a patient. We have performed more complex surgeries (with excellent results) than any other hospital in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
- The medical center is home to a robust program dedicated to carotid disease and stroke prevention, using advanced carotid endarterectomy and advanced carotid artery stenting (CAS).
- Our department actively participates in clinical trials to advance the field of medicine and offer more options to our patients. In fact, we were the only program in Florida selected for the VIVID Trial- “Venous Stent for the Iliofemoral Vein Investigational clinical trial using the DUO Venous Stent system.”
