Inpatient and Outpatient Rehab
As one of the leading rehabilitation programs in the southeastern United States, Mount Sinai Medical Center offers a full continuum of care for patients requiring rehab — from inpatient care to outpatient programs.
Inpatient Rehabilitation
Our inpatient rehabilitation program is for patients who require more intense therapy, who may be undergoing other treatments at Mount Sinai, or who might be unable to function independently at home. Most commonly, patients at Mount Sinai’s inpatient rehab unit receive therapy following brain injury, stroke, hip fracture, neurological disorders, and many types of surgery.
Admission begins with a visit from our staff to ensure a patient is eligible for inpatient care and to evaluate the type of services required for optimal recovery. The Mount Sinai Inpatient Rehabilitation team is comprised of the following rehab experts:
- Board-certified physicians
- Rehabilitation nurses
- Physical therapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech-language pathologists
- Case managers
- Recreational therapists
- Dietitians
- Support personnel
At Mount Sinai, we prioritize helping our patients go home as quickly as possible.

Outpatient Rehabilitation
Many patients do not need to stay at the hospital for their rehabilitation. Instead, they can come to our outpatient program directly from the community, after discharge from the hospital, or from our Inpatient Rehabilitation Program. Others come for outpatient care without ever being hospitalized. That’s because at Mount Sinai, we have the expertise and resources to treat nearly every type of condition that requires rehabilitation.
In fact, Mount Sinai’s outpatient rehabilitation team not only considers the medical and physical needs of our rehab patients, but we also take into account their psychological, social, spiritual, cultural, and economic needs — as well as those of their families. With professionals representing every aspect of rehabilitative care, our program is truly comprehensive and offers the best possibility for a strong recovery.
At Mount Sinai, we often provide care for patients facing a broad array of conditions, including the following:
